It all started in 1969 when Mr Alfred Fenech, who already had a vast experience and knowledge in the furniture manufacturing industry, started his own venture by first importing adhesives for wood under the trade name Alfen Trading Agency and after a few years woodworking and aluminium working machines, air compressors, hand and power tools were also added to the list of products. The name Alfen became synonymous in the furniture industry due to the commitment of providing top quality products and the possible best after sales service to its customers. As time passed the company started participating in local exhibitions where it introduced modern industrial machinery considered sophisticated and innovative for those times.
In view of the then existing restrictive policies on imports, The Company took the decision to invest in a large warehouse to start the production of white cold glue, wood varnishes, wood stains, thinners, and furniture polishes.
In the mid 90’s the need was felt to refurbish the Company’s showroom with new shelving. The Company was not satisfied with what was available on the Island so the idea of importing its own shelving was born, the Company also started importing shop fittings under the brand name as it is known today, specializing in all needs for a high class finish for domestic, commercial and industrial shelving.
